Forres

Known as the Jewel of Moray for its fabulous floral displays, Forres is one of the larger Moray towns with a good range of shops, restaurants and other services.

It is one of the link towns on the Moray Way long distance circular route, joining the coastal trail from Findhorn to the Dava Way, which follows former railway track over Dava Moor to Grantown-on-Spey. There is also a well-used network of paths in and around the town, leading to the River Findhorn, through Sanquhar woods or out into the rural hinterlands.

The town is home to two distilleries which welcome visitors - Benromach and Dallas Dhu - and is within easy reach of the nearby village of Findhorn, a popular sailing destination, and the Findhorn Foundation eco-village. Brodie Castle, a few miles outside Forres, is also open to the public.

One of town's main events of the year is the Forres Scottish Week which coincides with Moray Walking Festival and offers a variety of fun activities which are worth checking out.
