Nestling beside the River Spey, Fochabers is a pretty village which can once again be enjoyed now that its traffic bypass has been completed.
It is a popular resting spot for those walking the Speyside Way and offers small shops, restaurants and cafes in the village itself, as well as two visitor centres on either edge of the village: Baxter's Highland Village on the right bank of the Spey and the Christies Garden Centre and Teapot Tearoom on the road east.
Known locally as a centre for antiques and collectables, Fochabers also has a Folk Museum covering both natural and local history. In May the Highland Games is held in the grounds of nearby Gordon Castle. It hosts the popular Speyfest Folk Festival in August each year.
